❥ Folkmore Roles & Attributes
Skills:
-- Exceedingly charismatic - Even before he started wearing his spelled earring, Darkstalker had a way of endearing himself to people. Even his worried girlfriend couldn't help but be swayed despite knowing he could easily end up on a dark path that lead to many deaths.
-- Excellent at stealth/secrecy - Darkstalker uses his charisma, powers, and sweet words to hide truths from even those closest to him. He even hid his animus powers from his parents for the majority of his life, and hid a great deal of his terrible acts and spells from his friends, up to and including enchanting them even when he promised not to.
-- Tactical - Every move he makes is with purpose. Even helping his queen in the war against the Icewings has purpose, as the Icewings had kidnapped and possibly killed his mother, and so he guided the queen into bloodier, borderline (and not borderline) genocidal moves.
Canon Abilities:
-- Prophetic Ability - When Nightwings are hatched under the moons, they are gifted abilities. One moon grants prophetic powers or mindreading, two grant both, and in rare occasions, a third moon will grant both in a much stronger capacity. Darkstalker was thrice moonblessed, and so he has powerful prophetic ability. This means he can experience visions of the future. Multiple futures in fact. He can't trace them as well as his former girlfriend Clearsight, but he uses this ability to decide what actions he takes to get to his "best possible future". (For the purposes of Folkmore, this will be opt-in for players, and his futures will be muddied past a week or so.)
-- Mind-reading - Once again, as he was thrice moonblessed, Darkstalker can read minds with exceeding skill. He will literally hear the thoughts of others in his mind as if he was having them himself. It's such an innate ability that he'll often respond directly to the speaker without words. (For the purposes of Folkmore, this will be opt-in for players. If he can't get a good read, he'll blame it on where he is, and the Fox for ruining his abilities!)
-- Animus powers - Darkstalker gained animus powers from his father Arctic's bloodline. Animi are able to create, conjure and spell objects, other dragons, living creatures, you name it. The only limitation is bringing back the dead...though it can be used to create a death/resurrection cycle as Queen Diamond did with Foeslayer, or change a regular egg into a dragon egg, thus creating life. Something something loophole. THANKFULLY!! Darkstalker sealed his animus powers into a scroll in order to protect his soul from multiple uses of his powers, so he does not have it with him! Anything he has already spelled, like his bone earring, should still work in making him appear more trustworthy and charming (to other dragons ha ha ha), but he can't do anything new.
-- Invulnerability - With his scroll, Darkstalker spelled his scales to be invulnerable to damage, and even if he is somehow hurt, he'll immediately begin healing. Additionally, he's supposed to be protected from any threat of death. This is pretty lame however, so while in Folkmore his scales will not be invulnerable, just harder to penetrate, and he will lose his death protection. The healing can stay, but it'll take longer than usual to patch him up completely.
-- Immortality - This guy, am I right? He enchanted himself to be immortal. I've decided this does not mean he can't die, just that he wouldn't die of natural causes otherwise. Get wrecked, buddy.
-- Night vision - Due to his Nightwing heritage, Darkstalker has excellent night vision. After all, Nightwings are nocturnal! This is pretty mundane, but I think it bears mentioning.
Role: Myth
Role Qualities/Attributes: Coincidentally, Darkstalker has most of the physical qualities of a Myth already (horns, tail, claws, fangs, night vision). He also has enhanced self-preservation already and is pretty quick, but I'd like him to get a bit of a buff to those things!
Cleverness, quick learning, and luck are untouched. He's already got enough of that.
Role Reasoning: Myth works best for Darkstalker since while he wasn't terrible to some people, ever since the day he hatched he's been very interested in himself, his feelings, and his goals. This is to the point that he knew that he could help his sister Whiteout hatch just as gifted as he was, but left her to hatch later in the day because there couldn't be another like him. He loved Whiteout dearly, but excuses his choices anyway. He's not just selfish though--Darkstalker refuses to dance to the beat of anyone's drum but his own. He makes promises and immediately breaks them to suit his purposes, such as promising not to read a fellow dragon's mind...and yet consistently skimming the top off their thoughts. He also promised not to ever enchant Clearsight with his powers, and yet not only did he do so, he phrased it as him "solving" one of the most annoying things in his life. Very rude!
Given his age, personality, and how well he aligns with Myth, I intend to explore whether Darkstalker will ever be able to change his behavior and learn to take the focus off of his desires, maybe even think of others outside of their use and value as accessories to him.
❥ Personality
I am choosing Option 1.
Darkstalker is...certainly something special. This is not a positive endorsement, but he'd think it was.
Ever since he was a child, Darkstalker was extremely self-centered. Some of his first conscious decisions as a newborn were that his mother's love was a shame to share. He didn't want to share with his sibling, not after he already had to share it with the "ice monster" that he considered his father to be.
Further, his first conscious decision in life was not to help his sister hatch from her egg with his own fledgling powers. He actively intuited the result, and made the choice not to make another dragon even remotely as blessed as he.
From the mouth of babes: "This is my mother. Those are my full moons. This is my world now."
This choice is only one of many that express how much of a narcissist Darkstalker is, and how that colors his relationships. His love for his mother Foeslayer is powerful, and despite the fact that he deprived Whiteout of a future where she was just as gifted as he was, he convinced himself that he loved her exactly as she was. On the other hand, he held no love for his father Arctic, and actively antagonized him through passive and overt gestures.
For those who he sees as threats and enemies, Darkstalker shows little care or remorse. He's passive-aggressive, doing and saying whatever he can in order to sabotage/infuriate the object of his scorn. An example of this is how he'll use his mindreading to disclose embarrassing or otherwise private information from the minds of other dragons just to aggravate them. He's done this with Arctic and his fellow schoolmates before. As far as he's concerned, they deserve it for messing with his things. And that is how Darkstalker views things and people.
For those who he cares about, Darkstalker will do everything in his power to make them happy. When he meets his "soulmate" Clearsight, he's overjoyed and makes promises to her in earnest. This is because he will always strive to make the best impression on dragons he thinks are worth the time to do so for. Despite his self-centeredness, Darkstalker really does want the best for his friends.
Unfortunately...because of that self-centeredness, he decides what is best for his friends, and acts against their wishes to bring them the comfort that he decides they need. Despite promising Clearsight he'd never spell her, he gifts her earrings that close off her view of any possible futures that end badly, and he intends to spell his friend Fathom to ignore his oath to the Seawing queen not to use animus magic, and to be a happier overall dragon. These are things he's "fixing" because he considers them "annoyances". Anyone who tells Darkstalker that he's wrong, or mistaken, or even if they worry about his choices and moves are an "annoyance", and must be altered for their own good and happiness.
He might think he's good, but Darkstalker is very manipulative, and to a degree considers his relationships as accessories. He truly loves Clearsight and wants the best future for them, but would rather lie and deceive to get there than to ever admit she's right to warn him against bloodier futures.
Speaking of which, Darkstalker is a ruthless dragon. He enchanted his own father to disembowl himself simply because Arctic intended to trade Whiteout's hand in marriage to the Icewing queen in exchange for Foeslayer. For Arctic's wife, and the mother of his dragonets, he was willing to do such a thing. But since it was not Darkstalker's idea, and in fact would be unfair to Whiteout (true), Darkstalker decided Arctic was a threat to be eliminated (yikes). When the Nightwing queen moved against him for the danger he posed and attempted to have him assassinated, Darkstalker had every intention of killing her and instating himself as King, despite the fact that such a thing was unheard of in dragon hierarchy.
With Darkstalker, the road of good intentions is paved with bones and painted in blood. But as soon as they arrive there, the future is bright! He has Clearsight, he has his friend Fathom, and hey, murdering a few dragons along the way is the kind of collateral he can live with. This is what he forsees as his full potential: Ruling the Nightwings and eventually the rest of the dragon tribes through intimidation and therefore instilling peace through force, while being surrounded by the dragons he values most. It meant enough to him that he was ready to commit regicide, and in fact he was willing to commit genocide against the Icewing tribe so that they could pose no threat towards the Nightwings'--or rather his--conquest.

There are two different responses to two different scenarios. However, if that is not sufficient, I have a written sample for you below!

Darkstalker doesn't like the way things are done in this place. He feels hampered by his surroundings, especially given that he's larger than most accommodations or other beings here. He finds himself missing the Night Kingdom pretty frequently. Especially here in "Wintermute" as it was known. He hated the cold against his scales and underneath his talons despite the fact that his talons were in fact made to handle ice. A "gift" from his Icewing heritage. Eugh.
Once, an errant thought occurred to him that maybe this is what his father had felt like being away from home for so many years, but he'd immediately quashed that. He was nothing like Arctic, and the fact that his own mind had led him that way was unacceptable.
Darkstalker wasn't an evil, cold-hearted ice monster. He only did things for the good of other dragons, and it wasn't his fault they didn't get it.
He lets out a breath through his nostrils as he approaches one of the only good things about this place--a hot spring. Finally. Warmth for his scales. Clothing items don't do enough--Darkstalker just doesn't care for the cold. He'd found a hot spring off the beaten path a while back and decided it was his own now. No one came here because without wings, it was more than a little forbidding.
At least here he could sink into the spring up to his wingclaws and eat a proper dragon meal while his scales warmed up. So many scavengers freaking out about a dragon eating a bird or something. Solitude doesn't suit Darkstalker's personality, and yet...this is nicer than mingling with the scavengers.
Humans.
Whatever.
